Taking a shower at night id not going to cause health problems. I think your what your parents are probably worried about is that since it is late, you will go to bed with your hair wet -- which is not really good because it can cause you to get a cold and if done constantly, it can lead to sinus problems in the future. So, I think it's PERFECTLY healthy to shower at night, just make sure you dry yourself well and blow dry your hair -- make sure its completely dry and not damp!!!

Your parents are lying to you, my friend. What's unhealthy, (Not to mention very bad hygiene. UCK!) is to NOT take that shower. The only problems it's likely to cause is your parents have probably awakened to you taking a night shower and gotten annoyed. Mine where the same way, But I still took one at night anyway if it suited my fancy. Who wants to come home all sweaty and have to lie down on thier sheets and try to sleep while uncomfortable and still feeling hot and sweaty??? NO ONE!

I normally shower from 12 PM to 5 AM, unless I get so hot during the day that I take one then too. Dude, sweating is actually one way that your body releases toxins and other waste products from you body. Its not good to sit and marinate in that stuff all night long! Some of those waste products, given that much time on your skin, actually soak back into it and over time, will build up! Not to mention how dirty the sheets get! Wash your bedding, and tell your parents to expect the shower to be ran between 10 and 11 at night!

Plus, the shower will help you relax and will assit with falling asleep at night. Its a good idea to drink some water and take a shower after working out. (Not to mention it makes you smell better.) And don't worry about going to bed with a wet head. It's not damaging to your health, but some people don't like the feeling of wet hair on thier pillows. If that's the case with you, just blow dry your hair. And if your hair is short, it'll dry quickly anyway.

Kudos on the tennis playing, thorugh! Good way to stay fit!

There's seriously nothing wrong with showering in the evening. Don't most people do that? Haha, I can't even imagine not showering in the evening, I'd have to go to bed all sweaty and gross... brr. But it's the same with washing your hair every day - some people think it's gross if you don't do it and some people don't mind washing it every second day or less (me). So no, there's nothing wrong. Plus, it's a time saver to shower in the evening instead of in the morning, isn't it? Once in a while, morning showers are très refreshing, but usually, washing my face in the morning does it for me. If it really bothers your mom if you shower so late, try showering earlier, like before or right after dinner (6-8 o'clock). For hair washing, I hate going to bed with wet hair. I use a blow-dryer. I put my hair in a bun too when I don't wash it so it doesn't get wet. :}D :):)<3

I shower twice a day, once in the morning because i get bed head, and once at night because when i work out i get sweaty and just prefer to go to bed clean. I've been doing this for a good 3 years now and have not experienced any 'bad conditions'.

It is crazy to start a war in your home, over a shower, which is probably best taken earlier. Some people, like myself, do get migraines from staying up late, eating, showering, working on the computer very late-- and still do it anyway... until they go to the hospital, get drugs to help their muscles relax. Others, it doesn't bother at all. It's a fact, living off the money of other people makes you more obligated to follow their advice.

That's REDICULOUS. They should be encouraging you to TAKE the shower after being physically active, LOL... I have to WRESTLE with MY son to get him into the tub/shower!

What's REALLY funny is that as a kid growing up, I wasn't "allowed" to take a shower in the morning because I'd be leaving the house with wet hair and would "get sick" (an old wives' tale...) So what your parents are saying is directly contradictory, LOL...

What's unhealthy is having sweat and bacteria "cooking" on your skin all night. Tell your parents THAT! Or shower before you come home, maybe?

Good luck!

I don't understand why it would be unhealthy. Actually it's unhealthy not to take a shower and sleep while you are still sweaty cause of oil build up on your skin. Taking a shower is relaxing and it cleans your skin and hair. I think your parents are wrong and you should take a shower.

If youre playing tennis and you don't shower afterward I hope you wash your sheets and pillowcase every single day. There is nothing wrong with night showering. If you sit and watch t.v. for an entire day, then you usually don't need to. In your case I would shower immediately after tennis. Your skin may eventually get dry if you shower nights and mornings, but if not its up to you.

No, it's not unhealthy and it won't cause problems. They probably just don't want the shower waking them up at that time of night.
It's probably better to have a shower at night than it is to go to bed all sweaty - otherwise you are just continuously sweating up your bed sheets and then sleeping in it.
