a) The MoD are desperate to recruit more cannon-fodder into the British Army to cope with the crazy POLITICAL deployment orders we have to obey and now, no longer care where they recruit from !!
b) the more serious and PC reason is because these Commonwealth countries are still classed as the "British Commonwealth Countries"...?.. and thier citizens are therefore elligible to enlist in the British Armed Forces would they wish to do so... same as thier Joe/Jane Public being recruited into the NHS service..
c) British young men and women are now wise to the REALITY of what was once one of Britains best asset now being politically manipulated AFTER being politically decimated over the last 10+ years.. resulting in an under-resourced and under-manned Armed Forces forced to serve in AFGHANISTAN and Iraq, along with other countries conflicts in a UN-sanctioned "peace=keeping" role - unable to fire our weapons if we see attrocities being committed UNLESS WE OURSELVES are under attacked...
ONE DOES NOT JOINED THE ARMED FORCES FOR THE DEFENCE OF OUR COUNTRY TO WORK UNDER THESE ORDERS, when tax-payers have paid out £MILLIONS in training each and every one of our Armed Forces OSTENSIBLY for the defence of our own country... as shown adequately in the Falklands.. when invaded by the Argentinians. Northern Ireland was a "peace-keeping" role for the Armed Forces - to help the Police maintain law and order... LOOK HOW LONG THAT TOOK TO BRING PEACE TO THE PROVINCE..compared to the Falklands War..
UK people of recruiting age today join the Forces to DEFEND.. not to go into a war-torn theatre, or another country's conflict with 1 arm tied behind thier back in a "peace-keeping" role, forced to watch unspeakable attrocities and not be able to do a damn thing about it, whilst facing the local peoples' wratch on a daily basis for NOT helping...
That is another reason the MoD are forced to look outside the confines of UK to boost our dwindling Armed Forces..
Blame the politicians for thier incompetence over the last 10-15 years by NOT LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT IS NEEDED..(not WANTED take note.. NEEDED ..) by British Armed Forces ie CAREER MILITARY PERSONNEL THEMSELVES... WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND FORESIGHT..
They have been proved correct time and time again these past 5 years... we're even having to use 2nd hand landrovers in AFGHANISTAN and Iraq .. mind you, they have been given a new paint job and shipped over from N.I now they are not longer needed there...so at least they looked good in the media photographs...!!
Hope this answers your question... ;-) !!

they're nonetheless recruiting simply by fact they nonetheless choose a "pass" of people by way of. in the event that they stopped recruiting now they could have no privates(Oooooh err ,mrs). which might recommend in 6 or so years time they could have not anybody to sell to corporal. In yet another 6 years they could have no corporals to sell to sergeants and so on. the army is in comparison to universal companies the place they are in a position to basically hire in center administration while that's needed. while you're in the flexibility of adjusting right into a member of and nonetheless choose to. decide for it. Thes very few secure jobs accessible those days. the army is a good place to be.

The tradition of the Gurkha's serving Britain goes back to the time Britain defeated them in battle, they decided to offer their services to the victors.
Not all Commonwealth countries offer a choice for their citizens to serve in the British Armed Forces, but there are many cross training exercises involving students from Commonwealth countries.
For example members of the Fijian Army serve with 22 SAS.

cos the people of the uk see what a shambles the army is and refuse to go to war to help people boost their ego's or kill people for money. if it wasnt for them we wouldnt have much of an army.
also fully respect the ghurka's they are amazing and deserve every penny they can get
