Must be because "he, she or it" doesn't have a material form.
The words he, she, and it are used in the English language to imply a thing, animal or human. It is thus the usage of our own language that makes it difficult for us to "see" the god.
How can we see something without material form? (We can't)
I guess sensing may be a better word.
So, why can't we sense the god?
Some people claim to sense the god. It's a pity there's no way of verifying the claim.
Why can't you and I sense the god?
I really have no clue!

I am guessing that you are asking why we can not receive a personal revelation when the prophets supposedly had one. That is a good question. It is one of the reasons I left christianity to become an atheist. I "asked God for a revelation" and never received an answer. This is pretty strange when one reads the Bible and sees that people talk to God all of the time.

Jesus says blessed are those who believe and do not see. God reveals Himselfs through His spirit. He's not going to just appear to you face to face until you are with Him in heaven. I have never seen His face but I have heard His voice, and no I'm not crazy and I don't drink or do drugs. I promise. His voice is not loud He speaks to the heart. He lets you know He is around in different ways.Sometimes He uses the Bible to speak to us. Alot of times He is the prescence of peace when you need it the most. God is real and if you draw closer to Him by praying and reading His word He will make Himself known to you.

We cannot see GOD due to the fact that our visual transducers are of a limited frequency response even in this dimension.
When we go through transition from physical to spiritual we will have different sensory capabilities and be in a new dimension where we will be able
to perceive things in a new way. This still does not guarantee that you will see GOD unless HE manifest Himself to us in a form that falls within our
new capabilities for sensing the new existence. We will see JESUS.
Matthew 5:8 (New King James Version)
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.

For some reason it is important for God to stay hidden from direct eye contact. However, you can learn about Him a lot from the Bible. He communicates through His Word. He also uses other people and situations in our life to communicate with us. That is why it is important to study His Word so that we can recognize when He is talking to us.

because he is in spiritual form. When the people who are saved get to heaven, our eyes will be opened and we will see Him.
