Don't you think it's better to throw in with Jesus, so that his dad doesn't burn you for all eternity in his fiery pond? Why would you take the risk of not accepting God's love? He does love you, after all - he'll only burn you if you refuse his advances! If that's not love, then I don't know what is!

Praise Jesus!

I don't buy jesus because i want to LEARN!!! People say ignorance is bliss, and in a way they are right... but although you learn about the real problems in the world when you reject the simple solution, your eyes are also opened up to the real wonders of the universe. Science is a really a beautiful thing. Religious fanatics who reject science think they are just missing some boring math equation but its really alot more then that. Science explains the bigger pictures, shows you the real meaning of life.

That is why I don't just accept God. Reality is the most beautiful thing there is, and I wouldn't miss it for heaven.

It's dead certain everybody's wrong -about something. You just live as best you can, by your own heart and brains- what else can you do? I don't think any God expects any less.

"Burn you if you refuse his advances"! -sounds more like a rapist than a lover to me!

What if you're wrong? Zeus will chain you to a rock, and have an eagle eat your guts out every single day...

I'm a Christian, and I am embarrassed by this question. I even suspect that a non-Christian posted it for slander. In either case, the wrong view of Christianity is posed here. God, the Father, does not send people to hell, they choose to go there themselves. Our God is a loving, caring God. Yes, he judges and is righteous, but it is silly to portray God as one that goes about smiting all that don't believe in him.

The point of Christianity is second chances. Jesus offers us a second chance at redemption. He didn't come to tell everyone that they were eternally screwed.

Questions like this are what makes non-Christians hate us. I'm not quite sure I can blame them.

I maintain that God is exactly like a mobster.

"You see that shiny new soul I gave you? Yeah, I'm sure you appreciate the favor, don't you? And you wouldn't want anything to... HAPPEN... to this soul of yours, would you? Ah, it's ok, neither do I! I want you to be happy, kid, of course I do! I love you, kid, I love you, you know that... and that's why I don't WANT to have to show you what happens when you don't appreciate my favors and my love for you. All you gotta do is worship and obey me for the rest of your life in everything you do and think, and don't forget that I don't take too well to mockery or blasphemy. It's fair! Am I wrong? Am I wrong? Of course not... so keep in line, kid, because I *love* you".

Pascal's wager, yet again. It has been known to be invalid for hundreds of years. How do you know that god's take on this isn't: if you use the brains that god gave you, and realize that god has, for reasons of his own, decided to stay hidden, that god will reward your intelligence with paradise, but if you believe in god's existence without evidence, you will be condemned to perdition for your stupidity? For further discussion of this, see:

That is too funny. He loves you, but if you refuse his domineering advances, he will send you to hell for eternity. Therefore, why not just accept him to avoid the torture and pain. I agree with you. If that is not love, what is.

I am not going to believe and respect an arrogant, malevolent, thug who burn people in hell for not having a belief in him.

I don't believe in basing my faith on Pascal's Wager, thanks.

And no, I don't think it's better to "throw it in with a false messiah who was deified by his followers." If that kind of thing floats your spiritual boat, that's fine, but it doesn't work for 2/3 of the world.
