911 Telecommunicators are instructed to give medical help for many situations. But they are not doctors, unless you need an ambulance and need to be transported to the hospital because of your injury, do not call 911.

I paintings for 911 fire Dept. interior the situations which you pronounced, it incredibly is greater useful to be risk-free than sorry. many circumstances human beings call and the reason that we ask questions is to be certain the point of care it is needed. There are 3 stages. I many times have people who're cursing to basically deliver an ambulance and not clarify what is going in (which could take over 10 minutes) than the fire dept that often takes a million-5 minutes. contained related to a heart attack, many times a fire Engine +Med Unit will bypass out. Then in the event that they get there and it is not heavily they'll many times call a ambulance.

Call ask a nurse for a medical question. It should have a number in your phone book. Calling 911 for a medical question probably will not make the people in dispatch very happy. 911 is only for emergency medical assistance.

911 is for life threatening emergencies. Your problem sounds serious, but not life threatening. You should go to a doctor's office, a clinic, or an emergency room. You would call 911 if you needed an ambulance.

Not unless it is to immediately save someone's life such as reporting a cardiac arrest and asking for help in performing CPR. Ask your doctor any general medical questions.

No, the dispatcher doesn't have any medical knowledge, and they won't connect you with a Paramedic.
Even if you did ask for a medic to respond, they would still bill you!
