not entirely a waste if at least in one the common factor can be seen and if it can unite people around it. notice all the many Holy places on Earth in which God is central that people stay apart from eachother. so if they all beleive in God then the question could be asked why do it in your own separate ways under one roof . this way no one personage will be in charge. just suppose The Pope retained importance but was just one of many representives of a united people under God . if this then things might get somewhere. none need come to Jesus at a Church to acknowledge his influence could aknowledge it outside . athiests do even if only as an influential person . as long as all three civilizations do not ask this or consider this question then all will be divided and in so defeat hope of peace for the connection will be ignored if it is not there for all to see. maybe it isn't necessary maybe not what peoplewant but a thought

Ok... I agree, organized religions are money making, control and fear operations however people find comfort in their faith that is directly associated with some short of organized religion doctrines.
Mankind has not yet come to realize what Christ said, “Worship in truth and spirit” that does not require temples and shrines and public exposure of one’s faith. Awareness and consciousness will provide us people with the insight required to alter our ego-centred practices as they are taught by organized religions.
Just take a minute and think about it… Most of the dominant religions preach salvation as the single foremost achievement a person can accomplish in a life’s span.
Salvation from what and for which purpose?

Because our life is but a vapor. The choices we make determine weather we spend eternity in Heaven or Hell. Choose Heaven, Choose to turn from your sins and allow Jesus to be the Lord over your life.

i see your point, yet for some of us it is more real than anything else. When you are called to God, you're called. When He doesn't speak to you then how can one believe? So I see your point. Religion, I'm afraid is a crap shoot to those who aren't called. I hope this helps you.
