Sorting them into categories is a difficult task. Six ways of classifying them are into:
Many hundreds of denominations: There are on the order of 1,200 Christian organizations in North America.
Their names range from the Amish to The Way.
We have essays describing some of them.
Four to eight meta-groups: Most of the Christian denominations and sects in the world can be sorted into about eight segments or branches: Roman Catholicism,

right, keep lieing to yourselves.
IF CHRISTIANITY WAS THE TRUTH YOU WOULD HAVE ONLY ONE INTERPRETATION NOT 1,000000 OF THEM.
GIVE ME A BREAK.

Pretty much all religions end up branching, because spirituality is a personal journey. So many people simply try to follow in the footsteps of someone who is actually making that journey for themselves, that they hive off and become a seperate group.
True spirituality regardless of the faith system it is based upon is a personal thing and it should be expressed however, the individual knows to be right.
My main problem with most "religious" people is that they're just following blindly and not walking on their own. Whether they be Christian, Muslim, Jew, Pagan, Hindu, Buddhist, whatever. Until someone has stepped out on their own, they're not truly spiritual and only religious.
You're only suppossed to believe in what you want to believe in.

churches and religious groups are granted a tax haven
(don't have to pay tax???? )
a great way for movie stars and the wealthy to preserve and increase wealth??
might start one myself! i am paying way too much tax at the moment
(if the tax havens were eliminated we would be just left with the true believers - and all the Hollywood type hype would disappear )
and also the need to start new religious organisations would diminish
so where would that leave us$$

First of all, Jehova witnesses and Mormons are not christians. They believe totally different things than christians. Christianity is basically believing that God sent his son Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. The other differences in churches just depend on how people prefer to worship.

All they are is different interpretations of the same thing, thats all it is, just becuase there are so many different types of shoes do you not beleive that they all surve the same purpose. There are also many defenitions of words, and different takes on news stories, and why do you care. Why take the effort to make a question like that, if you dont beleive in it, leave it alone. Why spend the energy on the subject.

The only thing you have discovered is that people are great at grouping together. We are social beings after all.
But you're not called to believe in Christianity. You're invited to believe in Christ. Examine His life, ignore everything else.

The TRUTH is Jesus Christ, who He is and what He did. He is the foudation that all Christian denominations believe and agree upon. The "brands" exist because not everyone agrees about how they should follow Him.

There's a difference in what true Christianity (look at Jesus - the epitome of a Christian) teaches and what man teaches. Denominations are man made. Unity is God made.
