No, if you can use word processing software it will be assumed you can type at a normal speed and 40WPM is rather normal. If you have had classes in Word, Excel or other programs list that education. If they want your typing speed they will test you.

Listing it depends upon whether or not it is something you'll be doing on your next job. If you're a waitress, who cares how well you type? But, if you are an administrative assistant, then it matters. Check out the link below about targeting your resume to the job you're seeking.

I thnk it would be better just to say you have experience with Microsoft Word.
40 words per minute is not a professional typing speed. Anyone who types would see that as a negative.
