No. I'm pretty certain you can hold joint citizenship.

Ignore all the people telling you that your citizenship will cease. The US Supreme Court has ruled that under the 14th amendment, the government has no right to take your citizenship away unless you voluntarily surrender it. Under current state department policy, simply taking an oath of citizenship to a foreign country does not mean you are giving up your US citizenship, EVEN IF the oath in the other country contains a renunciation clause. There are only 2 ways you can lose your American citizenship: 1) go to a US consular officer and renounce it, or 2) if the government takes you to court and gets a declaration from a judge that revokes your citizenship.

It does not have to cease to exist. We have "special" arrangements with our "mother land" of UK, so people are allowed "dual citizenship". I guess that's because the Queen is actually running the show over here too!!!!

Yes the US will take away your citizenship. Once you are 18 you can choose to become a citizen of another country. Claiming allegiance to another Country will make you no longer an Americain.

the U.S. allows dual citizenship with some countries. Another pertinent question is whether England allows it.

There are certain requirements you need to meet to legally travel to the U.S let alone stay and live and find a job. Trust me there isn't much here if you are not a professional.
