They think that prayer is no longer allowed in school, which isn't true. Teachers or staff are not allowed to lead students in required prayer anymore, and that is it. Schools are usually obligated to allow space for prayer groups, and students can pray during school in their own groups or by themselves as long as it doesn't interfere with the learning environment. Most schools allow students to wear symbols of their faith (there have been some problems of this not being equal though - some Pagans have been banned from the pentacle while Christians can freely wear crosses.) Also, time is still taken off of school for Christmas and Easter, and "under God" is still in the Pledge (as it has been for the last 50 years). Bibles are still found in libraries, and there are still Christmas programs in many schools. I still seen schools with the 10 Commandments still posted. I don't see why they get so bent out of shape about the ban on required prayer. They have a lot of rights and freedoms. I bet they wouldn't like it if a Buddhist principal required all of the students to begin each day with meditation. This ban of required prayer protects all students, regardless of religion!

God is not impotent but He does not go where He is not welcome. To answer this where was God at Columbine HS, He was on the outside while the "Educated Men" on the inside did nothing to protect the children under their care. God will not force people to worship him, nor will he go uninvited to their lives. God has for years been pushed aside and He is withdrawing, 9/11 is proof of that, for Many died because a Heathen Nation attacked this once Godly Nation, and we had no hope. They called on the Lord after the fact but not before. I am not blaming all Americans for that it is the Christians that 2Chronicles 7:14 calls on to humble ourselves and pray and seek Gods face and turn from our wicked ways. If we do that God promises to forgive our sins and heal our land. From this question it seems you are not a Believer so I do not hold you responsible for allowing things to get to this point. We believers must get involved and reclaim this nation for the Lord God before it is too late.

God is omnipotent, not impotent.

God gave us free will. Some people don't want a religion different than theirs taught to their children. They have that right. This is America.

People who don't like it should send their children to Christian schools.

By the way, before you call me an evil atheist, I went to Christian school. I do not believe that religion should be taught in public schools.

We havnt literally taken His presence out of most schools, He's been removed in the way that His teachings, His name (in prayerful form) and His symbols like crusafixes and crosses have been removed.

you cant take God away from anything. thats impossible because He IS always with us - if u want Him or not.

I think it's safe to say God is everywhere, but his blessings exist only where he's welcome. Look what happened immediately after he was "banished" from schools - SAT scores dropped like rocks while STDs, teen pregnancies, and drug use flew through the roof. Now we've even got school shootings to worry about. When will the next one be? There's no telling but I'll bet it won't be long.

Bottom line - God is a gentleman. If you spit in his face he may withdraw, but remember that the absence of light is darkness and the absence of good is evil.

We are not taking God out of our Schools, but we are removing His authority and His Word. God is God and He will always be there. But we can limit Him to protect us and move in our lives if we refuse to obey and acknowledge Him. By our rebellious choices and behavior, we have allowed Satan to rob us of our dominion and allowed Satan to become the god of this world. God gave us a freewill and it is our choice. So you agree that we are mere mortals (impotent and dying) and that God is omnipresent. Could it be you believe he actually exists?

God is everywhere He pleases to be. If we vote Him out, He will remove His presence from the schools. Look how many evil things happened at schools since He has been voted out! : )
