mm... in a logical path taking as postulate the existance and supposed actions of god and the devil:
god and the devil are in league. probably close buds. at the least, satan is a servant of god. think of it this way. satan is supposedly there to do all the bad stuff - making people do evil things, causing bad things to happen to good people, killing babies, the whole nine yards, etc. This job is so that god can keep his hands clean by not doing his own dirty work. Now, if satan were so horribly hateful of god, the most effective thing he could do to subvert god would be to stop doing his job. If the devil's not making bad stuff happen, then god's gonna have to step in and do his own dirty work. That or cast out another angel. (not many applicants for that one). And that would tarnish his (supposedly) good name. satan has the intelligece of an angel. surely he would realize this. So, they are most certainly in league. And the book of Job shows a more chummy relationship between the two, making casual bets against each other. It makes it sound like they're betting on a football game. anyway, satan has to do his job; bad stuff doen't "just happen" in Christian theology

God will "poof" him, in His perfect timing. And Satan is both God's enemy and His servant. But, God is a just God and is going to be fair to all of His creatures. So, He has a purpose for allowing Satan to do the things he does. Satan was once Lucifer, God's most beautiful creature. But, Lucifer wasn't satisfied with being God's most beautiful creation. He wanted to BE God. He wanted to take over God's kingdom. His pride in thinking he could actually do that caused his fall. And how do you hurt someone the most? Mess with their children. So, Satan is trying to hurt God by deceiving mankind. Because if Satan can be successful in deceiving even one soul, he has succeeded in hurting God emotionally.
So, out of love for our Creator, we must resist Satan. And he's such a coward anyway. Because if we resist him, he flees from us. In fact, when it's all said and done, those of us in Heaven will be amazed that such a small and pathetic creature deceived the entire world. See Revelation. Peace.

Islam:
Well, first, is Lucifer the same as SATAN?
Second, They are nothing more than God's Flunkies,. because they still Fulfill what God Created them To do, and all their power comes From God's Consent.
So, in essense, they are an Emanation of different Aspects of God himself.
Peace

In the Bible, Satan does ONLY what God approves. Read it and see.
In reality, there is NO such being as Satan. Only Christians believe he exists. They invented him so that they could shift the blame for God's evil actions, and their own wrongdoings, onto someone else, instead of taking responsibility themselves. The pre-Christian word "satan" actually means INNER adversary. "Lucifer" means "bearer of light".

If you really want the answers, they are in the Holy Bible. I suggest you get a New Living Translation, which is written in plain modern English and read it for yourself. You will find a lot of other interesting info while you are at it.

No, Lucifer DOES try to turn man against God....
God reated Lucifer, therefore he is God's "minion" but he is no longer in God's grace...
