What is the situation that permits this?

A lot nowadays. Contributing, neglect, you name it. But when I was a kid in Iowa, my parents let me have a teeny glass of wine with dinner. I was under their supervision and nobody knew about it. No problems. Now the parents could get put in the slammer for something like that, especially in California.

I have a dissenting opinion. If kids are taught right by parents watching over them, they won't go out and binge drink because it's taboo, and become alcoholics in high school and college. Heck, my grandparents used to use whiskey on teething gums. Didn't turn anyone into an alcoholic.

It depends, if they are in your home and being supervised by you there is not much any law enforcement agency can do about it, however if your in a public place, ( lake, park) they could arrest you for contributing to a minor.
If your kid is out not being supervised by you (a party) and they are busted they will arrest them for public intoxication, and some other charges they could add in.
It is best if your going to let your kid drink that it is with your supervison and they not be allowed to drive or anything like that than you can be liable for a whole lot of things.
I would say its better to be supervised and at home than out on the town with there friends.

i do no longer think of that's the main suitable concept. You and that i the two be conscious of, that issues that are merely as undesirable as eating and utilising could happen. what proportion stupid issues did you do as a inebriated teen? i be conscious of I had my honest proportion of stupid issues. All you're doing is placing a precedent for them to run over you. You instructed them to "knock themselves out" so do you think of they are ever going to invite your permission to do something? Or what if law enforcement officers happen, and that they are asserting "nicely, my dad knew we've been at an unmonitored social gathering, the place each and every person is underage and eating ?" The law enforcement officers would be once then you. All in all, no longer a great concept.

In some places you could get into a lot of trouble. You may either go to jail or have to pony up a lot of cash not to.
Nobody has enough political clout to stand up to MADD and tell them to knock it off they're myopic zealousness is creating binge drinkers and making criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens

That's not really acting like a responsible parent isn't it. You are encouraging it and he or she thinks it is ok when and were to drink. You have to be careful.
Most crime are thous under the influence and encouraged by an older adult or some persons close to them.

I think it depends on how much and how old they are. Also, possibly what they did. I recently read that an 11 year old was pulled over for drunk driving. I wonder how her parents are dealing with it...

it will cause so much trouble with your child's future if you will let them drink under age.. one is they might get addicted to alcohol.. and will not finish their studies and among those girls that are taking alcohol might get pregnant at their early age..
