...or does reality ruin everything?

No, so far it seems that reality trumps belief. For one thing, I am aware that many, many people disagree with me. If the universe I perceive is based on my own beliefs, the number of people who disagree with me should be disproportionately small, which it is not. So for the time being I must assume that belief does not define reality.

That said, it is quite possible that my CONSCIOUSNESS affects my reality:

but so far I don't have much evidence of that. I'll have to wait and see.

One of my idols (David Copperfield) once said, "If you believe and you want it enough, nothing is impossible."

I tried it once. I wanted something really really much and I believed that I could really get it and achieve it. But belief and want is not enough. You have to work towards it. In my case, I think I didn't try hard enough and so I didn't get it. Reality stepped in.

Does wishing make it so? If I really believe that $100, 000 will appear in my wallet before the end of the month, will that alone make it happen? What you believe in needs to have basis in reality.
God is based in reality and is worthy of my praise, faith and belief.

If it's true before you believe it, believing it probably doesn't keep it from being true, though it's a horserace.

If I see a train coming at me 60 mph and I choose to not believe will that mean the train isn't real?
If you read the bible and truely seek God and salvation you will find it to be real.
