I've heard a similar riddle
It goes like this: (This is told from a book)
One fine summer day two fathers and two sons went fishing at their favorite lake. They fished and talked all morning long and by noon everyone had caught one fish. As the two fathers and two sons walked back home, everyone was happy because each had a fish even though only three fish were caught. Two fathers and two sons. Only three fish caught and no fish were lost.
Answer: Only three people went fishing: a boy, his father, and his grandfather: two sons two fathers.

it's not necessarily four people. it's like the father, his son, and then the grandson. the grandfather and the father are the two fathers, and the father and the son are the two sons.
