I spoke to my vet the other day and got a recipe for kitten mush. However, I cannot remember the amounts. Could someone help guide me on how much to use?

Evaporated milk
Egg yolks
Honey (I believe it was 1T)
Sugar (I believe it was 1T)
Warm water
Dry kitten food

Mix in Blender....

I just need to know if anyone else knows this recipe and what amounts to use. I've looked on the net but there is no recipe like this one.

KMR is easier and a LOT better. Really, honey should be avoided in ypung animals, as it should in young children due to the bacteria that can be in it.

Emergency Kitten Milk Replacer
3 oz condensed milk
3 oz water
4 oz plain yogurt (not low fat)
3 large or 4 small egg yolks - no whites

A formula for kitten gruel is found in this link:

By three weeks, the kitten can start to eat food from the dish along with the milk replacer. A gruel can be made by thoroughly mixing a kitten food (canned or dry) with the milk replacer to reach the consistency of a thick milk shake. The mixture should not be too thick at first or the kitten will not consume very much. As the consumption of food increases, the amount of milk replacer can be gradually decreased. By four to four and one-half weeks, the orphaned kitten can consume enough moistened solid food to meet his needs. It is better to avoid starting a kitten on a baby food regimen. This creates extra work and can also create a finicky eater. Many such foods will not meet the nutritional needs of a growing kitten.

I've never heard of this kitten gruel before..it sounds like a lot of work. I'd check your local pet store for a formula called KMR. It's what we use at the animal hospital I work at.

Never heard of that one...

Go to www.purina.com

I followed their instructions to deal with kittens that had to be bottle fed for over 4 weeks. One of the 2 kittens (both of which fit in a teacup at the same time when I got them) is now 29 lbs... and not fat.
