on my new laptop i have microsoft works, but i need word, excel, and powerpoint so i am going to buy microsoft office student edition. do i have to buy the full version or can i buy the upgrade? also how many computers can i install it on?

You will need to buy the full version, works is not an office product.

You need to read the license agreement but my understanding is you can install it on one desktop machine and one laptop.

Generally, the upgrade version is for users who own the program.

I think the student version only has Word and Excel. If you don't have to make Powerpoint presentations, why pay for it. You might be able to install it on one desktop and one laptop - where you own both.

Whatever you do, buy from a reputable dealer where you get the CD and product key. You'll have nothing but trouble if you don't.

you have to have the full version as upgrade requires a previous version
