A faulty radiator would do that. The thermostat on your radiator triggers the electric fan. If the thermostat is broken (a cheap item to replace) then your fan won't go on, the car overheats, and you lose compression. I would let your car get warm and see if the electrostatic fan goes on. If it doesn't there's your problem.
