We have a neighbor who has a driveway that can fit two of his cars in it plus one on the street in front of their house... but he has 3 cars, plus his gf's and his mom's that live their.. well, he has recently been taking up MY parking spot that I have to park in often, plus another one on the road outside of our house.. So he has all of his parking taken up plus all of our street parking taken up.. One of his cars parked in front of our house has a tire taken off and the other doesn't ever go anywhere.. So do we have the right to call the police? Or is it public parking basically?

Well it depends, do you have a home owners association? If yes then look up the rules and see if it mentions parking.

If not then yes you can call the police and report the car as being parked in front of your house. I think it will depend from city to city if they have the power to move the car or not. Before you do call the police however you should try talking with your neighbour, let him know that you need that spot for your car and ask him politely if he could park that car anywhere else.

If he gets aggressive or you think he is getting angry just back off and DO NOT ARGUE. You can then call the police and report the car, just be aware that your neighbour will know it was you and may get upset with you. Hopefully he will be cool with and just move the car to someplace else. He can always park it in his drive way and park a "moveable" car behind it

street parking is usually public parking with no, restrictions on who uses it, however, since you say the cars are not moving/missing parts you can call Vehicle Abatement or start with the police if your town or city does not have an abatement department. Usually something can be done with broken down cars on the street. If they want to keep them they should swap them with the ones that run!

Public parking. However, many places have laws against leaving vehicles without tires on the street for an extended time.

Yes and Yes, There is nothing saying that you can't park in front of someone's house, but there may be ordinances on abadoned vehicles on public ways. I'd call the local police (DO NOT USE 911!!!) and talk to them about it, they may have code enforcement come out for a visit.

I'm not sure about the laws, but I would personally suggest that you try to talk to your neighbor before taking legal action. I'm sure you want to get along with your neighbors, and they should feel the same way.

I would suggest that if talking doesn't do any good, perhaps speak to your city council.

You could call the police. If there's nothing against the law about it, the worst they could do is tell you.

It depends on where you live. In my town a car that can't be driven will be towed if parked on a street for more than a few days.

No -- as long as the street is a public street, anyone can legally park there (subject to local parking rules).

Instead of calling the cops and having the guy hate you, just ask him not to park there anymore

Talk to your neighbor, don't bother the police.
