CAN you be a Christian, without believing Jesus was the son of God. meaning he is NOT a supernatural being. To believe there is no GOD, but follow the teachings of Jesus. Sort of like... Buddihsm, for Christians. I would sure be a lot less annoied by you, if you thought that way.

you would be annoyed with me??
I'm not sure I understand your question.

To be a Christian is to follow Jesus Christ and His teachings. He is the son of God AND God incarnate. I know I know, that's what's annoying you. But that's it. It doesn't bother me if you don't believe it, but common! I'm a nice person.... what's not to like? LOL

blessings :)

since Jesus taught about God, I think it would be difficult to follow his teachings and not believe in God. I guess you could follow a few of his teachings, but that does not make you a Christian. Being a Christian is pretty narrowly defined by Jesus Himself. You would not meet His qualifications if you did not believe in God.

That's a good question. Is faith a matter of correct belief, or the way we live? Or a little of both? I believe there is a God, I also believe Jesus was the son of God, my husband, who is a Christian does not.

no, because that would defeat the purpose of being a Christian wouldn't it? you have to believe in Jesus, and you most definately have to believe in God....if you didn't believe in either, then why even bother with even being a christian? and i don't understand why it would annoy you just because we believe in God, and that Jesus was the son of God....that thought comforts me...knowing we aren't here all alone..and we have someone here watching over us. I think you should give God a chance...you might just be surprised.

That's an awesome question. I'm a Christian who believes that Christ is the son of God, but when you think about it, the first followers of Christ did not necessarily believe that, at least not until later when they saw him risen from the dead. But they were still Christians, i.e. followers of Christ. I guess it makes you like Thomas....the apostle who refused to believe that Jesus had risen without "proof." He wasn't any less a Christian, so I guess those who follow the teachings of Jesus but are skeptical of his divinity can still be considered Christians as well.

So pretty much jesus was a carpenter... And god is a belief most people have, but we believe in god in different ways, I think she was a girl, of higher power. Thats my theory but in order to not believe that I have to go by what jesus the carpenter said.... man jesus you confusing all these christians and catholics out there xD. Sorry I just think it's funny I understand... I think :]

And why do you have to be a Christian to follow the teachings of Jesus?

i would say no because to be a christian is to tell the gospel of jesus christ and you cant tell the gospel if you dont believe every word jesus spoke. jesus said there is a god and he spoke to him many times , soooo to answer your question, if youre going to follow the teachings of jesus then you must learn that there is a god and he is seated right next to him

I understand your question, and it is a good one. Thanks for asking it...hopefully it will make people think.

Now to answer. No, it is not possible to accept the teachings of Christ, but deny his deity. He claimed to be the Son of God in the Bible, so...either he WAS the Son of God or he was a deceiver.

Since the only way to become a Christian is to accept the atoning sacrifice Christ made for our sins, it would not be possible to be a Christian and not believe in the Deity of Christ.

Hope this answers your question. Blessings!
