You don't have to have either, but it is a courtesy extended to the children

We aren't having either...pretty much in the same situiation as you, there just aren't any young kids. There will be two attendants on each side and us.

The best man will keep the rings in his pocket until its the right time. Thats what happens anyway since few couples trust actually giving the rings to a really young child so the pillow is just for show. If you really want the 13 yr. old involved perhaps you can have him carry the supplies for the unity candle or the sand ceremony up to the alter in a nice box.

Flower girl we could have possibly had one but I've seen way too many weddings where the flower girl gets shy and won't walk and they usually can't sprinkle the petals or whatever evenly and you just end up with little piles. We'll scatter the stuff beforehand.

The Ring Bearer and The Flower girl are merely old symbolic gestures of a wedding and are therefore considered "tradition". I tend to get question like this at www.theringbearer.ca and believe me you are not alone on this issue! I think if you do not feel like there is anyone right for this wedding position than don't try and fill it. The Ring Bearer and The Flower Girl are there to resemble innocence and purity symbolically, but there actual role is not that important.

If you have no family or friends with a child of the appropriate age you do not need to have either a flower girl or a ring bearer.

13 is a little too old for a ring bearer or flower girl. You can always look outside of your families. And no, you don't have to have one. It's your wedding...plan it as you like.

You don't have to have either. If there are no kids that you really want to ask, don't ask anyone.

Ring bearers and flower girls serve no real purpose. And you're missing the point of honoring a young person in your life, if you just ask anybody just to fill the slot.

Morgan if you have any friends that have children perhaps you could have them take part in your wedding as ring bearer and/or flower girl if you so choose. But 13 is a little old to be performing this duty.

Don't have any. Most weddings don't. If the wedding will last into the evening it's better not to anyway. You don't want pictures of some random child in your wedding photos years from now. Flower girls tend to get nervous, cry or misbehave. You don't want a kid acting up or causing a distraction, taking away from you, right before you walk down the aisle.

We had neither at our wedding. In our wedding, the best man held onto the rings.... whatever your heart desires.... after all.... it is your big day!

You don't need to have a flowergirl or a pageboy in your wedding. I was flowergirl 25yrs ago and had no pageboy with me and it looked fine.
