It fulfilled an old testament prophecy. God doesn't make these things happen , but foresaw the evil that men do. And yes when God ( the Judge of the Universe carries out the judgement of the damned . The second death, you might perceive him cruel. When in reality , We all deserve this second death (eternal separation from God) There is none good but God.
He has provided a way to escape this punishment. Taking that escape, I embrace a Loving God.

If you knew God, then you would know that he is wise enough in his decisions, even when we do not understand. He is eternal, and we are not. He is the giver of life, and we are not.
Again your question taken to extremes just becomes the old classic philosophic question: How could a good God allow evil things to happen in the world?
Your questions taken to psychological considerations make me think their is some guilt involving a baby. All I will say is that God is good, God is love, God is merciful and forgiving.

That Satan would try to block the coming of the Christ was part of prophecy.
One reason is that Herod had to believe that he had exterminated all the babies in order that billions may be saved through the ages.
God gave Herod freewill as He gives you. Do you always make the right choice?
Does God let you do wrong things and learn?
My answer is I make wrong choices and God lets me learn.

because God had a plan.. and His plan was for joesph. MY religion is not dumb, it makes perfect sense... but it sure sounds like jibberish if you are not believing what you are reading. the bible is alive, it is the word of God. if the holy spirit is not in you, then sure you would think what you think. my LORD is not cruel, He has a plan for everything... He is omniscient and a loving God. sad for you that you have no idea of His mercy and His grace.. for your eternity's sake i hope you spend some time with the Lord and accept His gift of salvation..

The only reason Joseph was able to take his family to Egypt is the gold given him by the Magi. The Magi knew what was to happen and they had anointed Jesus to become a Magus when he had reached Hebrew Manhood--12 years of age..

Who are you, a mere human being, to argue with God? Should the thing that was created say to the one who created it, “Why have you made me like this?” When a potter makes jars out of clay, doesn’t he have a right to use the same lump of clay to make one jar for decoration and another to throw garbage into? In the same way, even though God has the right to show his anger and his power, he is very patient with those on whom his anger falls, who are destined for destruction.

There is no basis in the 5 Books of Moses, Midrash or Talmud for Yosef to have any connection whatsoever with Jesus. Such concepts are false.

Jesus was needed to tell Gods plan. To fulfill a prophecy. The other children were not. It's bad that they were killed. But God didn't do it. But children are without sin so they will surly be in heaven.

King Herod was operating under Satan's evil dominion, as were all the other babies and their families ... so they were already subject to death as the standard penalty for Adam's original sin, as well as any sins they might have directly committed.
Jesus was sinless, so was not under Satan's dominion, not subject to death, nor could he have ever been ... if he was to be our true Messiah.
And no one in heaven, on earth, or under the earth, had the power to take Jesus' life ... until Jesus voluntarily laid it down, at Calvary.
This all makes perfect sense to anyone who understands authentic Christian theology.
Obviously ... you do not.

God is not cruel, sweetie he loved you before you were born, he created you. why would you want to talk that way about the person who gave and gives you life? did you know god chose me and allowed me to understand the bible? just pray ask God to reveal himself to you and he will
