It is very normal. My father is an alcoholic and everyday of my childhood I wished he would just leave and leave our family alone. As I got older I tried to convince my mom to leave him thinking that would be the end of our problems. She finally did but he never went away. Now that I am an adult I realize what a strong hold alcohol had on my father and kind of glad that I couldn't just wish him away. Although our relationship will never be great, I love him regardless of all the stuff he put us through. Never be ashamed of your feelings. I just hope that your family member comes to realize what they are doing to you and will seek treatment for whatever it is that they are addicted to. I wish you the best.

YES! Their addiction effects every one around them!
It is very very stressful living around some one who has an addiction problem.

So, don't feel bad about the way that you are feeling. Of course you love them, you just don't like what they are doing.

I would have to say yes. The reason being is that even though you may dislike the addict, that person is still family and you get tired of the drama, I'd imagine.

Absolutely. An addict takes down everyone around around them if allowed. If this person is "not ready" to admit they have a problem and needs help, those around him/her should seek counseling to learn how to deal with it and how not to enable this person. You need to stop being this addicts victim. Good luck and God Bless.

yes, usually people with addictions only bring stress & problems, and bring you down, having such sore feelings are normal.

you can help that person by putting them in rehab. most people make the mistake of thinking that a person will change for them but the truth is, is that you cant change for anyone but yourself.

Totally and completely NORMAL.
Sadly, I have a sister I have not seen in years. In order to be OK, we have to be around people who are doing OK. Even when that means family.
