Ewww, no tonic water. Very chemical, medicinal taste.
Sprite would be a great substitute for club soda, since it's lemon-lime flavored. Since it's already sweetened though, cut down on any sugar you add.

I wouldn't use tonic water--that will kill the whole mojito flavour. If you use sprite, just cut down or totally eliminate the sugar or sugar syrup you're using. That would be the best.

I've had mojitos made with Sprite (or Sierra Mist, don't remember which one, but they taste the same). It tasted great, especially since the lemon-lime flavor goes with the drink. If you use it, you probably don't need any sugar.

Either... club soda and tonic water are pretty much the same thing. But sprite would give it more of a citrusy flavor.

Margarita Mix is a great substitute for soda some restaurants just call for a splash of soda anyway.
