everytime i eat before i am done eating, i get really bad stomach aches and have to go to the bathroom. I have had my stomach checked out and they said it was perfect! I can have pizza at one restaurant and have to run to the bathroom after a slice and not have any problem at another. its really annoying to have to excuse myself to the bathroom everytime i eat. Do you think i have food allergies if they didn't find anything wrong with my stomach. (did a scope) does it hurt to get tested for allergies?

Ah.. the days of eating and sprinting to the bathroom.

Yes you could very well have food allergies. Most likely since it happens with one slice and not another.. its probably something that you eat often and your body can tolerate certain amounts of it, but too much sends you sprinting to the toilet.

It may also be Celiac, which is easy to test for, just ask your Doctor to run a Celiac panel.

It is in your best interests to keep a food journal, of what you eat, and if you eat out, where you eat as well as different restaurants are going to use different ingredients.. As you've noticed with the pizza, one place safe and another place not so much. You also need to pay attention to what you're drinking as well. This should help give you clues of what are the possible suspects.

Since you said this happens often, so its probably a food item that is in nearly everything. That usually includes: Corn, Wheat, Eggs, Milk, Soy, Peanut, Black Pepper (or MSG, or sulfites)

Its probably not wheat, milk, or tomatoes.. unless its a qty issue since pizza generally has those three and should then cause problems in all cases. My guess is corn, MSG, or sulfites, but most likely corn.

In between now and the doctor, you may want to experiment with removing anything with corn syrup, corn chips, corn meal, artificial sweetners, corn starch, and citric acid where possible. Just to see if it helps with the digestion problems. (Some people experience a withdrawl when removing corn, so don't get too alarmed)

Testing for allergies btw, hurts a little. Its mostly just pin pricks, but if you're really allergic to something the reaction can be painful, irritating, and itchy. There are also blood tests you can have, and if your insurance covers a CAP-RAST test, I'd recommend having one done.

Oh.. and when you get your allergy results, even if there was a very little reaction to something where your doctor says it probably won't cause you problems so dont' avoid it. Avoid it anyway for at least two weeks, see if it helps. Even small allergies can cause big problems sometimes, and its worth a try to feel better.

Good Luck

It does not hurt to get tested for allergies. I have a bunch of allergies and I get tested twice a yearf for a variety of things. All they do is prick with a small needle for each allergy (all at the same time) and watch to see how your body reacts to each. It's more of a pinch than a stick.

It sounds to me like it could very well be an allergy. The different pizzas may have different ingredients.

I agree with the first answer but in the meantime here are a few suggestions:

Try avoiding MSG, mono sodium glutamate. This is exactly what happens whenever I eat anything with this in it. It's hard to avoid so read package labels carefully, including processed lunch meats, powdered gravy, spices, any processed foods, etc.
Another really big thing people are allergic to is milk and milk products, and breads and gluten.
I hope they are able to figure out what it is that you're allergic to. I wish you well.

Try avoiding any products with wheat , oats or Barley for a week. You may have to read every label to discover if gluten is in your food. This problem can result in the kind of symptoms you describe. Ask the doctor about tests for Celiac's Disease.

I don't know if it is food allergies... but just in case call your allergist.. (if you don't have one find it..)

Many people say it doesn't hurt to test you... but it hurt for me... (I have a lot of allergies) They stick these prong things in your back with drops of different things.. and if you're allergic then you get a hive... and you can't itch it... it drived me crazY!!
