Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 25 years. Ideally the tooth will come out on it's own and it is just a real pain in the butt. However, one way to loosen it is to chew gum. The rocking and rolling by chewing side to side will loosen it and it will pop out. But keep in mind sugarless ONLY! LOL. The other thing I allow my patients to do is eat a candied/or fudge apples. The chewy part will cause the tooth to loosen more and gently come out. The kids LOVE THIS because they have permission to eat sugar!! But keep in mind, this may take a few times, DON'T bite hard, just take small bites and chew. Them brush and rinse for 1 minute after. ALSO use warm salt water rinses to make sure the gum heals well and returns to it's natural shape. I also tell patients to PLEASE calm down, relax and don't panic. This is part of the normal process and just eat and try different things to gently work the tooth out. The over retained root will eventually work its self out and give way. If you have any other questions, please ask, I will be here any time you need me, just ask. Marie.

It will loosen on its own. If it doesnt soon go back to the dentist. My daughter had the same thing. We thought it would never get loose but it did. If it is starting to loosen, it will finish when it is ready.

I lost all my baby teeth by the time I was 8. It'll come out eventually, just keep trying to wiggle it and it will come out when it's ready.
