Stay off the phone, internet etc. while children are awake. Clean up after them so the house doesn't look like a bomb went off! Stick to her schedule and when in doubt call. She won't mind!

Parents love it if the house is a little cleaner when they get home than when they left. If you make sure the kitchen is cleaned up and toys put away when the parents get home, that goes a long way.

Especially if it's a family you sit for on a regular basis, if there's something you can do with the children to make your time with them special, parents will appreciate that. Is there a new game you can teach them? An activity you can do with them? For littler children, maybe a song or nursery rhyme you can teach them? Try to think of ways to have fun, besides just TV or video games! Parents will be impressed if they can tell their kids had fun with you, and if the kids want you to come back!

Well, I've been a nanny/ home daycare provider and also sit in the evenings for special people. Some of the things I have done for the occasional evening sits are.... I bring a tote beg of activities- coloring books and crayons, puzzles, card games, books, etc., I have brought bakery cookies for each child with their name written on it -the bakery is happy to do this for free, and always make bedtime a happy time so the last impression of you the child has is a good one. Have fun!

A good one is that if you know a forign language, try teaching the child a few basic phrases like greetings. It really makes parents impressed by the way you were able to enrich their childs education.

while you're babysitting, do constructive, creative things. Keep the kids off the computer and TV (but make sure they're really having fun) and Mrs. Mother will be impressed.

Parents watch the way their child/children react when they are around you. If you are a good hearted person with the children's best interest at heart this will show. Just be yourself and all else will fall into place. You don't want to look as if you're putting on a show, it'll be too obvious.

Don't try to be impressive. Do the job you were hired to do. Stay off the phone don't invite friends over and if they have a computer stay off of it.
