watch the portions, but yep! five to seven meals. i'm a munchy munchy girl, so i like seven... but find what works for you. at the end of the day, total calories are key (and consistency) spreading them out will help your sanity and your metabolism!
if you can try to get a balance for protien and carbs at each time. (meals are easy... snack idea: yogurt with fruit and add cottage cheese... sweet and balanced... plus calcium!!)
happy eatings!

Is a good way to eat 6 good size meals a day =)
This is what I eat
-I eat one egg and a sandwich in the morning 5am
-one banana and a power bar after work around 730am
-Around 11am I would eat another sandwich and some fruits during lunch break
-2pm after I get out of school I eat again usually a bowl of smart start, hand full of almonds and some fruits
-around 5 I usually eat a sandwich, some eggs fruits for dinna
-my last meal usually is around 8 just a cup of protein shake and maybe some almonds
and I am a single guy that doesn't cook much so I like to stick with sandwich and easy foods. =)

It has been suggested in studies and different diet plans that if you eat smaller meals more times a day that it can in fact help you loose or maintain your goal weight. It is believed that doing that way results in you not gorging yourself and being able to burn off the calories from a small meal or snack rather that a whopping 3 meals a day. With that said I have tried it, along with low impact exercise (palaties/yoga) and I have lost almost 30 lbs. So there is something to it. Also I ersonally don't get up late at night wantin ga sugary snack, because I have gradually filled myself up during the day. I have began feeding my children like htis and have noticed that they are getting more fit and don't look like couch potatoes anymore.

Yeah, eating six meals daily is smart because you are never really hungry through one part of the day. Your body is constantly fed. Of course don't feast each of these meals, just stay within a reasonable measure of 200-300 calories for each meal. Or have 100 calories snacks and have your main meals be 400+ cals.

I just read an article today on WebMD that said if you eat more frequently, your digestive system stays "On", and you actually have a slightly higher metabolism, and will eat less total food all day.
Six small meals, not three big ones, plus snacks.

well, think about it....when man first appeared on the planet he was a hunter gatherer. He did a lot of walking and eating, small berries nuts, whatever he could find. It is how we are designed to function. NOT as you have listed it, MEAl snack MEAL snack etc... rather
small meals six times in the day.

It's supposed to be 5,
but the meals and the snacks are not meant to be huge portions either. Not even what we would consider normal portions.
Plus snacks are not a whole bag of popcorn or a chocolate bar or something. They are meant to be an apple, or some spinach, or whatever.
Add exersize to that and you're good.

Sure, if they're smaller-portioned meals. Keeps the metabolism going. Drink lots and lots of water, too!
Don't forget the exercise. . .
