We have two 6 lb miniature Yorkies. I take Paxil (20mg a day). About 5 days ago I'd dropped one and took the entire house apart trying to find it. Vacuumed, swept, dusted - over and over again. Came up short. About 5 minutes ago, I looked down on the rug near my feet and the pill was there, whole but with tiny teeth marks on it.

My question is: Is there any chance that she (I know which one must have done this....she's SO sneaky) could have harmed herself by taking in any of that pill? I am worried!

Thank you so much.

I'd consider this a close call but in the clear. You got lucky, and you can breath a little easier. *phwew!* Guess that perscription has a taste that doggies dont like?

If thats the only pill and it only has bite marks, then your dog should be ok. Provide her with plenty of water to flush her systems of any trace drugs.

If she exibits any odd behavior that you feel is not normal for her, call up a vet for further advise or to set up an appointment.

Thankfully they did not eat the pill as there could have been major problems. I would think all is okay after all of this time.

I myself have to take a lot of medication. I always take it in the bathroom with the door closed over the basin so as if I drop something it will go down the drain and my babies won't be at risk. After what happened to a friends Poodle a couple of years ago I just could not put them at risk.

Little Barney belonged to my best friend. Bev has major heart problems. She was trying to put one of her heart pills under her tongue, but dropped it. Barney grabed it and ate it. To cut a long and very upsetting story short Barney died at the vets office about 30 minutes later even though she called me for help and I took him right away. The vet is less than 5 minutes by car.

Please from now on take the pills where even if dropped your little ones can;t come to harm. Better to waste a pill down the drain than to lose one of your little ones.

I am so happy things worked out this time.

If you are saying it is basically the whole pill with a few tiny teeth marks on it, sounds like she picked it up and spit it out. I wouldn't be worried in that case. I'd be worried if part of it was gone or if it was in her mouth, melted on her tongue and you fingerswept what you could out.
It always makes a person feel better to check with a Vet though! The pill would be toxic to her had she eaten it, or some of it.

i've got seen Paxil reason some strange stuff in 2 of my grown buddies (speedy eye stream and muscle jerkiness), so in the variety of small dogs i could think of that a reaction is achievable. i don't think of which you may panick in spite of the incontrovertible fact that. call the 24 hour vet and ask for indicators to observe for or in case you may bring about vomiting. you additionally could make the dogs vomit with the aid of giving a lick or 2 of peroxide. you are able to would desire to make a pot of coffee and employ a action picture to not sleep with the darlings.

You can call the ASPCA's poison control hotline and ask. They charge about $50 but they'll tell you if she'll be okay and what to do if it's toxic to her. You could also call your vet and just ask. If she's acting fine, though, I would just watch her and make sure she's okay. If she starts acting funny or sick, take her to the vet right away, though.

Just watch the dog closely for any adverse reactions. If your dog shows any unusual actions take the dog to a vet to be sure.

in all honesty you will need to call a vet. ask if you can speak to the doc only. don't talk to anyone but the doc. explain what happen and what you should do next... best of luck

i think your dog will be okay but why don't you call the vet and ask him/her? that's how you will know for sure. doesn't sound like pieces of the pill were eaten just little scrappings. good luck!!!

If it's been 5 days and you have seen no ill effects form this then your dog is fine. Not to worry.

Call the vet--they can contact poison control and find out if it is harmful or not.
