obviously, im a 15 year old guy, and ive started weight training. but ive heard it can stunt growth, either because it damages growth plates or because it screws up testerone levels or something. is this true. im already 6 foot flat and 164 lbs, and am taller than most guys my age and a lot of men, but seeing as how my dad is 6 ft 5, im pretty sure im still growing. if it is safe, what would be a good regimin for someone just starting out.
by the way, i was wondering if being able to max out at 140 pounds on the bench press and at 350 lds on the leg press are decent

You should start when your 16 or 17 its better.. You could lift all you want you wont see masive results till your 20 anyway. I started lifting when i was 13 i got the cool lookin abs and all the crap lol i thought i looked really big you see my picture i was only 16. But really you shouldnt lift to much at this age just try to get your self ready when you reach your peak (20). By when your going to be going crazy with the weights . BTW lifting is not why bodybuilders get that big its only a part of the mission. its BC of food and sleep. Many people could get huge without steriods to just not at your age. I would say at age 17 start lifting like crazy eat about 8 meals a day. Umm about 5 scoops of whey protein (100g) per day. Also take cacein protein before you go to bed. For the food you want atleast 8oz of chicked grilled, sweet potato, light tuna, 4egg whites only and 2 whole eggs. with one slice low fat chesse. This is only part of what you should be eatting. To get big takes a look of work. I remember when i would be so tired laying down on the bathroom floor. All the guys you see big had to go through hell to get there.

Well, in my school, I think they start lifting weights in 9th grade (14-15 y/o's). I've never heard such a thing of it stunting your growth that I can remember. I'm sure if the guys at school are in weightlifting, the coach surley wouldn't let them yet if they are too young. Anyway, good luck!!

I would wait about three more years before you can do serious weight training, at the age you are now, your body is still developing, if you do want to start weight lifting start with the lighter weights first then increase a little at a time.

lifting weights does not stunt growth!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is the biggest fitness myth out there. i started lifting when i was 13. i didnt stop growing till i was in my 20's. keep lifting. at your age you hormone levels are super high. your levels are the same as a 30 year old on steroids. take advantage of this. learn as much as you can about weight training and nutrition. this is more important than training itself. good luck.

Ask your self do u still want to grow taller? If yes then stop if no then yes u can lift now.
Im 15 too and i dont want to lift weight yet, im 5"7 and wanting to get taller for basketball. You still have plenty of time later in life to lift weight so why rush now? Being tall, it wont happen wen u get older but it all up to your choice.

You need to know that you're physically capable of doing what you say Health Wise. I'm sure you have to have a physical for school but talking with someone with actual knowledge in this area is your best bet.
