No. Unless your tattoo is 100% healed in 17 days you shouldn't go swimming at all until it is. Most seem to take about a month for irritation, dryness and scabbing to completely go away. Keep it out of the sun and out of water longer than to bathe. Your artist should have told you this. Use sunscreen and a white unscented lotion if you must be outside and limit the sun exposure.

I would say that you will probably be healed up by then. Just take care of it properly until then. I suggest a very light coat of neosporin today and tomorrow, then start with non scented / colored lotion on day three. Make sure you wash it with antibacterial soap and water once daily. You will be able to tell if it is healed enough by the 20th. If it is still very "raw" and tender then, I would not soak it for too long in the water. Also make sure to keep it out of dorect sunlight, and use sunscreen always when you are in the sun.

a tat isn't permanently set until completely healed and has no scab. If yours is still scabbed over don't get it wet as the scab may falloff and you"ll lose color. There is also a high risk of infection.

your cutting it close...I personally wouldn't just to be safe, but you'll probably be ok. Just make sure you take care of it properly until then so it heals fast.
