I say you can never go wrong with a Toyota or Honda. I recently saw a MR2 just a couple of days ago on Ebay. It was black and it looked awesome. Look at the 91 model. I use to own one of these and it was an awesome car. You can do alot to them also in order to make them faster. If I had it, this is certainly what I would purchase.

go to some of the local dealers in town- tell them how much you have and say you don't want to pay more than that. I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse for $3500 a few years ago that way and it ran great. This way if it ends up being a lemon you can take it back to the dealership within 15 days and they have to fix it. Good luck!

Most sports cars in that price range have already been whooped on pretty good. Maybe an older Maxima w/5 speed. They are quick.

go to autotrader.com. I like pontiac sunfires and mitsubishi eclipse, but if you're a guy go for a pick up truck. My brother has a chevy pick up, stick shift and got it for 3,000. The ladies will want you............ :)

Start looking in your local want ads, if not you will have enough for at least a down payment.

A Honda Civic is probably your best choice as you described what you want.
