Yes, charcoal can be used more than once. We grill all year round & each time before we start the grill, we have a screen that we dump the grate onto so all the burnt ash fall thru to the ground. If the coals are still hard & not completely grey, they make great starter coals for the next meal. The grate gets rid of all the ash so air can still flow around your food..........Charcoal is the best!

No, charcoal burns down to ash when heated in the grill. You do have to periodically remove the ash, but you will have to buy more charcoal for each grilling session.

Those "leftover" chunks that are sometimes in the grill may be fine for STARTING the grill, but will not hold heat or be enough to actually grill your food. You will need to add more charcoal.

After you finish cooking with charcoal shut the dampers and close the hood. The remainng charcoal can be reused again until it is gone.
I normally mix used leftover charcoal with new coals with good results.
