Changing the battery in the remote should not deprogram the remote if done correctly. See page 99 of your owners manual

The remotes will only work to "lock/unlock" when the ignition is in the lock/off position. If you're testing the results of reprograming, with the key in the ignition & the ignition in any position, other than lock/off, your 'test' will give you the situation that you're describing ( in your other question)

You may program up to 4 remotes & you must program them ALL at the same time.

Try reprogramming again, using the EXACT directions on pages 97-99 of the owners manual.
I will provide the link to download your manual in the sourcebox below.
The download is FREE (taken from Fords website) & in pdf format. You should save the manual to your computer for future reference.

I hope this helps.

Sometimes changing the battery does cause them we find to act weird and programming them (cycle the key on and off 8 times within 10 seconds leaving it in the on position on the 8th time.. the locks will lock then unlock to confirm and will do that last dance if it has accepted the keypad once you hit the remote button..instructions are here in Y answers or the owners manual)

But sometimes the remotes just quit working and need to be replaced...

One thing before calling it, make sure the batteries are facing the right way.. the writing on the battery should face the back cover.. the center round disk is what contacts them prongs

ive changed the battery on my 04 cobra keyless entry and alarm and never had to have it "reprogrammed" Maybe if you let it die completely and dont change it right away you need to have this done. Stupid question, but did you put the battery in with the "+" and "-" facing the right direction? If you did this, and you make sure the battery you put in was a good one, and you didnt get it wet or anything, then I would say ya, the person above must be correct and you need to have it reprogramed.

When you replace the battery it need to be reprogrammed for the truck or car. It may have failed due to a weak battery. Just take it to a dealer. Most times it takes less than an hour
