Sometimes parents who are not quite equipt to be parents at the time. They did for you what they felt was the best thing. They gave you to someone who not only wanted you but was able to take care of you. You are very lucky. You have an Uncle who looked out for you. It seems as though your parents are as afraid and nervous as you are. Thhink about it they have a lot of explaining to do to someone they don't really know yet. it's not easy to open up in that situation. Give it some time all you really have to do is listen. Eventually they will start talking. don't have too many expectations either. There is no way to know how these things will progress

Be open, honest and listen. Give them and yourself the opportuity to learn about each other. You'll be grateful in the long run. And it can never hurt to add more loved ones to your family. They must really want to change what happened in the past. We're all human and make mistakes. The mature person can forgive. I think you're mature, just emotional. And with good reason. Hey... you'll get more presents now!!! =) Best of luck.

Maybe they ARE trying to get to know you, but slowly.
They may have already learned a lot about you from your Uncle, and they want to let you tell them about yourself.
Take it slow and easy, you just met them. If you think you are nervous, I can promise you that they are too.
Keep visiting, take your time, and hug your uncle for taking care of you when your parents wouldn't...:) THAT'S a good man

Give them a chance! They make a mistake and trust me it's hard to forgive them but it's more harder when you have a chance to get to know them and for them to spend time with you,coz when that opportunity disappeared you don't know when is the next time it will happen again...come on give them a go and if it's not gonna work out then that's when you gonna moved on..

They were very nervous too, honey. The fact that they have invited you to go to barbeques and things means that they want to be a part of your life now. Please, though, remember your uncle who raised you. He sacrificed a lot and deserves respect even though your parents are back in your life.

If they invited you to go to a barbeque with them that might be their way to try and get to know you. It probably isn't very easy for them either and they may even feel guilty about their decision to walk out on you.

They are probably as nervous as you are and figure in social situations it will be easier to get to know you. As you get comfortable with each other... and start to get to know each other THEN might you be able to get to the tough stuff. They are probably not stupid people and know what you need to hear. It's usually a difficult thing to do.
Have patience and take it slowly. Get to know them... and you'll probably get what you need as time gives you the chance to know each other.

Tell them your uncle is capable of hosting BBQ's and other events and that's the ones you'll be going to. You can't help but honor and respect a man that picked up what they threw on the floor.

did you ask them why they walked out of your life, if i was in that situation i wouldnt even speak to them!! you don't owe them anything such as barbecues and visits, they are the ones that walked out, you stay and let them come to you if they really care.
