*grin* You got me pegged Exert.

Hmm. Trotlines. Now I'm going top of my head right now, but I -think- as long as they're supervised, they're fine. Can't leave them overnight or anything I don't think... lemme dig through my usual regulations page ( http://www.myfwc.com ) and I'll be back with ya.

Ugh. Looks like there's different trotline regs for recreational and commercial fisherpeoples.... HAHA!!

There ya go, hope it helps. Keep an eye out for gators, and keep the dolphins company for me while I'm out of town next week. If you're out at night and in the right areas, start watching for glow in the dark fish/phosporescence/bioluminescence, whichever you prefer to call it. Anywho. Good luck.

I looked at http://floridaconservation.org/ and couldn't determine that it's legal. The trotlines do appear to be banned in freshwater however. Maybe user "gimmenamenow" will see your question and give a more definitive answer. That is her stompin' grounds.
Just reading over the regulations it doesn't look like you will be able to use your shiny new trotline and stay legal.
I may be totally wrong with this answer.

Good luck.

Edit:
Speak her name and she shall appear...kinda scary huh?
So, looks like a maximkum of 9 hooks for saltwater trotline that must be attended at all times it is in water, it must not be overly long to meet their "tending requirements" and no juglines allowed. Period. If that type of fishing is your idea of a good time then have a ball. And catch plenty baby gators. j/k ;-)
Have a nice trip!
