God is eternally existing;so the better question is what is the point of creation? and the answer is to give God glory honor and praise.

The high lord Gamera will use his shell to protect us from the hot fondue rain of the after life.

You failed to specify which God. A Christian, a Buddhist, and some one with a weird religion about a flying turtle from '60s Japanese films will give different answers.

Oh, since Hindus are under represented here:

When traveling on a spoke of the wheel of life trying to make Atman, Braman (sp?) it is a concept you must surpass or be reborn to try again until you get it right.

God is the creator of everything; granted it was a part of some daft dare game with his brother - isn't it so obvious that it all is a massive wind up? how does he get away with it? He even gives so many clues that he's just having fun. I'd be laughing too if all this inhumanity wasn't so sad. I wonder what he dared his brother to do?

He made you and all the things you see,,,,the sky, the Heavens, the Earth, the animals,,,the Lord God made them all. He is your Heavenly Father and he loves you...but you were born a sinful person,,,from the time we are babies, we learn how to manipulate people and do things to get our way. It is for this sin in all of us, that God sent his Son to die on a cross for us. If we accept that sacrifice he made and admit our sins,,,turn away from the bad things we do and live for him....we shall have eternal life...not much of a burden for eternal life, is it? That's the point of God...in a nutshell...

"God" serves as an escape from the real world. With a hope that there is a greater force out there, that explains how this world came to be. Like the greek gods, they used Hades, as an explanation for death, zeus as an excuse for weather or something etc. Because they couldnt explain it themselves. When we die, I personally think we rot in the ground, but people like to think they are infinite. Most religions believe in some sort of "good" and "bad" place. They want to belive there is a place for them.

To give solace to our sense of self. We are aware of our selves beyond just physical existence, so death is scary. It's a nice thought to think we can continue beyond this physical existence. When primitive man's loved ones expired, it was comforting to know they still existed in some way. I look forward to finding out, but not too soon.

ALLAH(SWT) made the entire universe. ALLAH(SWT) is responsible for you being here and to HIM you will return on the Day of Judgment. ALLAH(SWT) put people on Earth to worship him in Islam.
