There can be MANY reasons for a lump behind your nipple, but this most definitely should ALWAYS be checked out by a physician. Yes, you can make the appointment yourself. However, if a surgical procedure is warranted, your dad is going to have to sign for you if you are under 18. It could be simply fibrocystic, it could be a blocked duct, or it could be a benign lump, or cancer. If it is something that needs to be removed, the doctors will make an incision near the nipple line, and remove whatever needs to be removed. The material they remove will probably be looked at by the pathologist for what is called "frozen section." If all the margins are clear of cancerous cells, then the doc will close you up and await the pathology report. They may even be able to tell on ultrasound (prior to any surgery) what this knot/spot/lump is and do what is called a needle biopsy. They stick a needle inside the cyst/lump and aspirate some of the fluid. That fluid is then tested for cancerous cells. That is how they will know what they are dealing with and make the decision for surgery or "watchful waiting," which basically means they will watch it to see if it grows or disappears. At any rate, without a doubt, any breast lump/bump/change in size/preportion etc needs to be checked out by a doctor at the earliest possible time. Good luck.

From the way you describe it it sounds like a cyst, which can be aggravated by caffine.

Just so you know, guys can get breast cancer. When I was doing chemo, I met a guy who had it. It isn't as common for guys to get it however.

Also, you sound like you are fairly young and it is very rare for guys or girls to get breast cancer young.
