I'm looking for a loose round diamond at least 1.5 ct, H color, SI1 clarity, and an ideal cut.

Downtown Los Angeles in the Jewelry District. There are so many good deals and great jewelry especially Diamonds. You won't see a storefront for those stores though because they are usually on the 7th or 8th floor. You can ask someone where to go but becareful who it is you speak with. Usually any security guard that is inside a building be it a bank or a dept store can send you in the right direction.

If you want 1.5 ct, SI1 clarity and ideal cut--why ruin it by getting an H? If it's cost--go down to a 1.3 and get an F or G color.

Anyway, a lot of jewelry stores offer annual trunk shows. They have loose diamonds come in and the guy in charge usually has several million in stones on him that day or w/e. Thats where mine came from.

But if you truly what the best DEAL, go to the Caribbean. They have fabulous deals on jewelry.

go to the diamond district in Antwerp Belgium. Seriously, book a cheap flight and buy direct from the same guys the dealers buy from, with a lot less markup.

That's a fairly standard diamond there, so you should have a large selection to choose from.

Even if it ends up costing the SAME in the end, after you add in the airfare and hotel, you'll get a great trip out of it and a story to tell. If this is for an engagement ring, you'll get a lot of mileage out of that, trust me.
