It totally depends on what State you live in!

There is no correct answer. Many people use the term to refer to the date when your year to date gross income = your total taxes paid for the entire year. If only Federal income taxes are included, certain low income individuals reached their 2007 tax free day sometime in 2006. If you include ALL federal, state, and local taxes, the 'hidden taxes' included in the price of everything you buy, and various fees paid to government agencies, some high income individuals don't reach that point until around Thanksgiving.

It depends on the state you live or will be making purchases in. Generally it is a couple of weeks before the state of public schools in your state. Like this week-end!!
