I found a really cute 1995 Mazda Miata and I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy it.
1. It has 79,000 miles on it
2. It's $4,500
3. No warranty (it's from a dealer though)
4. The seats, steering wheel, seatbelts, and dash board are a little worn (but I can probably fix this right?)

* Also, are these cars reliable?

I would greatly appreciate any help that you guys can give me. Thank you so much.

Hi Emily. Be careful. With only 79,000 miles the seats, steering wheel and seatbelts should not look worn. These may be signs that the mileage is 'off'. This is a 12 year old car, even at only 12,000 miles a year, you would expect it to have 144,000 miles. Note: this higher mileage is more consistent with the low price!

NEVER buy a used car without having an independent mechanic (one you trust) evaluate it first.

Best wishes and good luck.

how much do you like to shop? i had a miata. cute right? no trunk space.......they make great 2nd cars but not practical at all. plus there are a lot of miles on it and just because a car is from a dealer does NOT mean a thing. you want a certified used car if anything. i think you are about to get hosed.

I sell cars... So my advice is this, find a nicer car and deal on the price... with that many miles the resale value or trade in value is nothing. and it is not a reliable ride...even if it had a warrenty they could not pay me to take it off their hands.

4500 is too much for it. see for yourself. this is assuming average condition... as it sounds that it is.
