I got married early this year. My wife is still out of US and may not be able to join me here, in the US, this year. She does not work currently in our home country either. Can I still add her as my dependent and get the tax benefits? What are the complications ?

No, you cannot claim her as a dependent.

You can file a joint return if she agrees to have all of her income taxed in the US. If she does not agree to this, you must file as Married Filing Separately.

See IRS Pubs 501 & 519 for more information. You can get copies from the IRS website.

I don't understand what you mean by dependent. Your wife would not be a dependent. You are entitled to more benefits because of your married status.

as quickly as we are turning out to be a reimbursement I frequently gave it to spouse for her to apply as she observed extra healthful. that doesn't recommend she spent it on herself frequently ended up finding out to purchase something for the relatives or including it to money for a trip trip. previous couple of years we've had to pay on the tip of the 300 and sixty 5 days. would be paying lower back this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and in all probability next. It makes me snicker at what obama became think to do in assisting the middle classification spouse and that i the two artwork make much less then 100k and have 2 young toddlers in college and finally end up paying all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and then extra on the tip and this stimulus kit looks to help the very detrimental or the very wealthy lower back and us center classification get caught finding out to purchase all of it.

Your wife cannot legally be your dependant. She would need a TIN for you to file a joint return...so if she has that you will file a joint return if she does not you will file Married filing separately.
