LOL, Enjoy dorkiness! Anyways, I'm sure its all in your head. You'll never believe it, but almost everyone thinks they are dorky in middle school! Believe me, I've been to the popular side, and its not pretty. Eating disorders, depression: not something you want to do.
Be nice to everyone, no matter how popular or unpopular. Don't gossip. People will warm up to you. Don't act cold towards guys, be friendly! If you get asked out, cool! Go on a group date with a bunch of his and your friends. (1 on 1= ackward!). Enjoy life and don't worry to much about having a boyfriend, someday, the right boy will come along. Also, your peers will respect you if you don't cling on to the first boy who shows interest in you (unless you really like him). Don't lose sight of yourself, because if you love yourself (not in a concieted way), then everyone else will too! Good luck in 8th grade!

I think just about every young woman has had this exact same feeling in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade -- sometimes all three. It's got something to do with changing over from being a kid to a young adult. You just feel like an alien is invading you or something.
Best advice I can give you is for you to wait before you say anything. Listen first and see what is being said and how it as being accepted, and then judge your own thoughts and decide whether you want to share them aloud or not.
But that wouldn't be making you into a "new you." Who YOU are is just fine...you're just growing up and it feels awkward sometimes.

You are SO cute! You sound exactly like every other normal girl in middle school. If you ask me, middle school is THE time to be silly and goofy with your friends. If you want to appear less desperate around guys though, just tone it down a bit with them. Still act playful, but don't fall into the trap of being silly to the point that you come off looking ditsy and stupid. Guys dig girls who are confident and friendly.

Don't change! Being silly got me through high school, haha - it might not seem like it does you any good now, but once you get to the age where every girl dresses and talks the same, it's great to be the one that stands out.

Almost nobody likes herself at your age. Even the popular Queen Bee types have doubts. Be yourself, find friends who like you the way you are, and relax. As you get more comfortable you are less likely to be silly.

You're in school to gain an education - NOT to get buys!!!!!
Unless you are 18 - you don't even need to think about dating!
