Lets face it.Except for the universal rule like in all religions there is most outdated stuff.

Most of religions are so old that they don't apply to modern society.y

The kind of society they mention does not exist.

Some religions are asking us to behave like 19th century people.

Yes, certain religions are too old-fashioned, the Bible is so old that they could not have predicted how openly we are, and should be about sex, drugs, music, foods, etc. There are too many opportunities out there now that back then no one could face. What you should take from religion is the morals and values they pave for you. The point is, it is up to you.

Many of the religions are very old indeed but the wisdom that can be found therein is ageless. There is a one world spirituality now awakening in the hearts and minds of all men every where. The' world teacher' Maitreya, is here to ease our way into the new time that is now dawning. As I have said before the image of a church will be a symbol of mans primitive approach to deity and the human body will be seen as the one true temple of the one living God. Maitreya is here to teach all men the art of self realization and to show us the way back to our source into the kingdom of souls. We must stop identifying ourselves with our body and the form side of life and come alive in spirit. The one living God lives within man and not somewhere in some kind of ridiculous heaven dream ed up by bigots thinking that they are the only way to freedom and eternal life.

Wow, what a wonderful and insightful thing to say. The idea of applying values and putting them in a present context is way out of whack as well. As modern people, we should stop doing that in all areas and just abandon all the tools that were invented before us. The wheel? Pssh. Thats such a simple and primitive concept, we should just do away with it! And don't get me started on being an honest and good person and living a quality life! Theses "rule books" like the Bible, Quran, and Torah are just so incredibly strict that its impossible to live a holy life anymore, isn't it.

[Sarcasm is fun.]

I think a lot have been outdated for a long time. It's sad that many can't adapt to modern times (you can't just change the old testament, because then it wouldn't be the old testament). It would be nice to see a religion add a new book on that applies to modern times, but I don't see that happening.

Belief in God started in the Garden of Eden. I suppose Adam and Eve and their offspring made up the first religion. So it is older than any other. But though the Bible is an old book, its teachings will never go out of style. Christianity is relative to today and the only thing Christianity wants you to do is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Billy Graham said it best, Love God and Live as you please.

It would be nice if you had some specifics. I'm only familiar with Christianity, and I don't feel that it's outdated at all. Of course the stories are old, but they have many lessons that apply to our lives today.

That's one of the biggest unsolvable problems with religion. The choice to either change with the times, diluting the message it purports to hold, or to stay rigidly rooted in a past that has no meaning any more.

Religions apply to all of us because we are all human beings. Human beings consist of mind, soul, body and spirit. We are naturally seeking spiritual things which we don't totally understand. It's what helps us to grow, learn and constantly seek for betterment.

Just the fact that you're asking this question points to the fact that you are seeking spiritual enlightenment.

Keep seeking.

"...and the truth will set you free," (John 8:32).

what it seems you are implying is that we need new religions. that kind of makes it seem like a religion isnt what most people hold it to be. most people mold their lives around it and believe in it. for the most part religions are just asking you to do what they ask to become what they have to offer.

The core of most religions is faith, love, forgiveness and peace. Those things never go out of style.
