My kids hated my lectures more than anything. Grounding is about all that works at that age. Maybe extra chores.
You don't say what she's being punished for, but the punishment needs to fit the crime. I cured my kids of leaving their things lying around by making them do extra chores to earn back what I had picked up, for instance.
Teenage girls are the most horrible creatures in the world at times. Good luck.

What are you punishing her for? It depends on what she did that you are punishing her for, as to what her punishment should be. Like you could take away, televison and computer priviledges, telephone, not let her go out anywhere, take away something that she realy likes, ect. And do this for a certain amount of time. Dont back down though. You have to stick to the certain punishment, and not give in. Otherwise she will walk all over you.

For teenagers a heart-to-heart is best. I am older than my bestfriend, she is 16 her mom always ask me to talk to her. But i think thats a good start. If it doesnt work. PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN AND HARD! Let her know she cant act however she is. Grounding, take away phones, etc. When i was 15 i had my own phone cuz i couldnt shut up. Anyways, i got into trouble and my mom duct taped it to the ceiling so i could hear it ring but not get to it. i hated it then, but its funny now.

It depends on what she's done.
I would recommend sitting her down and trying to talk to her to understand why she did what she did. And then both of you come up with what you think is a fair punishment for what she did wrong, and then you decide from there.

Ground her to her room, with no phone, tv, video games, or computer and don't give in. If you tell her two weeks, make it two weeks. Straight home from school, straight to her room. Only come out to eat and go to the bathroom. Good luck.

options:
no phone.
no computer.
no t.v.
if its a respect issue or "clean your room" type of issue, walk into her room, pick up everything on the floor and put it in a bag. keep it for week or so. this will teach her respect for her belongings and you.
