It’s a nice dress, but it’s not a classic style and it doesn’t flatter everyone.
If it’s for you, I’d suggest trying it on first before you fall in love with the picture.
Edited to say: I absolutely love the second dress. It's gorgeous and a corset top flatters everyone! Gorgeous style, gorgeous colour.

You know I scrolled down and read some of the answers to your question - damn is all I can say! People can be so judgmental.
Firstly, there is no way you'd look fat in anything you put on. At 5'8 each of these dresses would look great on your frame. They are GORGEOUS - both of them okay and no, you wouldn't be showing too much as the Wedding day is synonymous with Your day period - end of story.
Out of the two - I like the first one better - if you have an hour-glass figure it would accentuate your curves like crazy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be a little sexy on your wedding day - it reminds the groom what he's getting but I would make sure if I didn't have enough up top to get a push up bra to give me some more or b) if I got too much up top I'd invest in a great support bra to keep them in there! LOL

I like the mermaid look, but this dress is a bit too much for me. If you could find a seamstress to do the dress and keep the corset top and may be a looser fitting A line or ruffle flowy bottom then may be. Love the back on the first dress.
In the end it is up to you. If you can pull it off and your venue is elegant and seems to show off your style then I would say yes. Don't know how it would look in a Church setting.

The real question here is what do YOU think of the gown and what would YOU think of the woman wearing it? This is going to be YOUR day (and of course your partners). Those are the only two opinions that you really have to be worrying about! Try them on - you are never going to know unless you see what it looks like on YOU!
And by the way - best wishes for a very joyous wedding to be followed by a long and happy marriage.

I agree with Rita. It's all about what you like and what u feel comfortable in. I love the idea of feeling and looking sexy on your wedding day. I am also a size 4 and very curvy and thought this style wouldn't look good on me so I would not try them on. When someone finally convinced me to try it OMG!!! They looked awesome. Like alot of people say, you don't know until you try it. I did not choose that style because of the restriction in the dresses. When I did find my dress I posted it too asking the same thing and got mixed responses alot of people said it was too sexy. That is their opinion now I know mine is the only one that matters. When you find the one you will know. And what everyone says won't matter because you feel good. Styles look different on each person, you will know what is right for you.

Honestly I don't care for the style. If you have the body for it and you love it, then go for it, but I think the design does not flow well. I really like it until it gets to the weird ruffles at the thighs. It looks exactly like a handbell. Just a thought though, you're movement while walking and sitting is going to be very restricted in a dress that's tight below the waist.

I REALLY like the second one that you picked. It is more along the lines of a traditional gown than the first one is. But the thing is that this is the dress YOU want to wear. As the bride, it is YOUR special day! So pick the dress that is going to be most comfortable on YOU and that you will feel most beautiful in!

The dress is GORGEOUS!! And very formal with a contemporary feel. If you've got great curves this would be fabulous, although I would avoid it if you are much bigger than a 10-12 especially if the curves are lacking...
the other thing to consider is where you are holding your wedding and the whole feeling of your ceremony. This dress is definately not meant for a wedding under a maple tree or a destination wedding...
Good luck and have fun!

The second gown is gorgeous! I bought my dress from Alfred Angelo and they are wonderful to work with, fast, and easy! However you need to pick a dress you fell in love with, which one do you like better? If you can't decide that and if cost is an issue go with the cheaper of the two.
Good luck and congrats!

They're nice but too trendy. You don't want to look back on your wedding pictures 15 years later and think "What was I wearing?!"
Also, those styles are very different from each other. Pick a dress that complements your everyday style, so you will still look beautiful but not out of character.

It is beautiful, it really is-except for the 'mermaid' snugness of it all. Gorgeous fabric, love the color, but not the cut. It isn't going to be flattering towards most body types, either. In the end, it is all about how it makes the bride feel, though. If it makes you feel like a princess, on top of the world, then you get it girlfriend.
