Also why after we grow up, learn to think for our selves, and revert back to a state of A-theism we are hated by many of those same believers that once considered us to be brothers and sisters?

Because we are taught or forced a religion onto us at some point in our life. The reason so many people hold onto it is their way of making sense of things.

Its easy to deal with death if you have a pretty picture painted for the afterlife. Its easy to deal with hardships if you think there is a giant Deity looking after you with specific reasons for things in your life.

I don't know why there is such hostility towards someone for not believing what they do. Let's all "live and let live." Religion just makes for another difference meant to separate everyone.

Culture dictates which religion you will follow. If a person is born on a farm to Christian parents in the bible belt they will become a Christian. If that same person is born in Pakistan to a Muslim family that person will become a Muslim.

In short, religion is a culture bound psychosis.

I think that you have it all reversed.

We are born into religion. Whether we like it or not, we got dragged into the religion of our parents.

It is during our maturity and schooling that we get the opportunity to examine our dogmas about creation, deity and life practices.

Without education and exposure to other cultures and beliefs, we remain within our scope of belief structure, occasionally trading one religion for another as a result of bouts of anger and disapointment with the previous one, and during cohabitation with a spouse belonging to another religon.

You mentioned the reversion into a natural state of atheism.
This is difficult to prove without experiments to prove that man, when left to develop without formal teaching, will somehow formulate that there is no god.

I am more inclined to believe that man, when left on his own in that manner, will take the path of a searcher, and will go to lengths to seek out answers to questions about his origin, and purpose.

We are not born A-theist. We are closest to God when we are young. It's the world and its influences that confuse us and lead us away. We are born innocent. We are born with the knowledge of God. Some people choose not to believe when they get older but most search for Him through religion until they find the answer that they can believe. But everyone knows deep in their hearts there is a God. We have a hole in our souls only God can fill. I'm not saying whose religion is right. Religion is man-made. All paths to God lead to God if your truly seeking God.

For most its childhood indoctrination. Some have problems, disappointments, or make grave mistakes in life and come to religions as a sort of patch for their lives and tool to make it better or comfort themselves. Some dislike those who point out the illogic of these beliefs because they really don't care if it is true they just want to believe. Anything that threatens the belief is feared and disliked.

I actually find that children are the most opened to faith in God. I don't believe anyone is "born A-theist", any more than someone is "born Christian". Faith comes with personal choice, thus we must have developed intellect before be decide.

By the way, I don't hate you...just so you know.

Usually our parents are religious and we follow them. Some stay in the religion the entire time. I'm 14 and still a Christian. I sure as hell don't have any plans to become atheist.

simple. our parents.

i always found id odd, that people think you can be born believing something.

atheist does not mean agaisnt god. (you cant be against something if you think it doesnt exist) it means not a theist. a theist is a person who believes in god. so unless you can prove that you are born believing in God, you are born an atheist.

i was raised Hindu, but have been an Atheist for as long as i can remember.
