I doubt anyone can help me, but I thought I would try. I have multiple personalities, and we dont get along very well anymore. I've tried shrinks and they arent any good for me, and its not dangerous or interfearing with my life, and unless I tell them most people dont even know, but its simply...depressing. We each want different things. The 'primary' personality has more or less the life she wants, husband and kids and such, but the rest of us are miserable, especially given that I am in love with the husbands old college roomate, and that another one of us is a lesbian. I dont know how we can all be happy at once...unless we all had bodies of our own which I dont see bieng even remotly possible...any advice or experiences of your own would be great, but please dont be hateful. We all have our problems, mine are just a little more outspoken then others.

Sorry you've not found a well experienced psychologist to work with. There are some excellent ones out there.

My daughter is / was multiple. Her psychologist worked with her for a number of years. The eventual goal was to integrate (join) the alters together, including memories, skills and desires. First 2 would join together, and eventually join again in with the "primary" personality. It is a lengthy process, but it is also the goal of your therapy, and very possible. To be mostly or fully integrated - joined into one really simplifies the opinions, desires, emotions, and arguements you're having to deal with today. By the way, because your brain doesn't have to work so hard to accomplish things, the headaches should also disappear.

No, you won't lose the who of who you are. You will live an enriched life, full of personality, and gifted.

you seem to have 3 choices.
1. live with it and be unhappy, unless you are the dominant.
2. seek counselling with a very good therapist to seek a balance and hopefully someday full integration
3. seek medical intervention in the form of drug therapy to mask/impede the non-dominants.

i would strongly suggest #2. everyone has conflicting emotions, thoughts and even actions in their daily lives. It is a matter of realizing that although part of me wants X, having Y is more important to the rest of me, so Y will occur and X will not. nothing worthwhile is easy!

I think a psycholgist or psychiatrist could help you. I think you should be careful who you see. Talk to people and do research to see if any local psychiatrist or psycholgst in your area specializes in helping wih Mulitiple personalities. Also get opinions on local psychiatrists. I have heard of people getting all their personalities intergrated. Then living happy lives with "one" personality that has elements of the others. In essance one complete personality I mean. I do wish you luck!

My boyfriend has borderline personality disorder. It is EXTREMELY hard to live with him. All I can say is, PLEASE go to your doctor and get on medication. I feel really bad for anyone that has this disorder.
