We have a male and female collie. The female was in heat 7 weeks ago and they mated. The past two weeks the male has been aggresively trying to mate with the female even though she has been out of heat for 7 weeks. Could this unexplained aggression mean that she is pregnant? He has never been like this around her before except when she is in heat. She has been getting chubby, but thought she was just eating more. Then I noticed her nipple felt larger when rubbing her belly.

Thanks to those of you who answered nicely. To all of you ignorant judgemental people who citicize without even knowing me. We did see a vet. The dogs didn't technically "mate" we had the VET do an artificial insemination. This is our first time breeding and he is walking us through the process. We love our dogs and have only the best care for them. We would never put them in a situation which would harm them. We wanted puppies; that's why we have purebreeds and that's why they aren't spay and neutered. We could have a pregnancy test, but the vet said that if we don't mind waiting to see then it wasn't nessesary.

Why aren't your dogs spayed/neutered? That would correct the problem of you trying to guess if your dog is pregnant.

Spaying and neutering your dogs is a lot less expensive than having a litter of puppies. Take a look at the collie rescue websites. Better yet, take a look at the staggering numbers of dogs that are euthanized each year in animal shelters simply because there are too many to be adopted out. There are plenty of dogs that need good homes. Your'e being irresponsible for allowing your dogs to make more unwanted dogs.

By 7 weeks her body would be different. If she is you only have 2 weeks to go. You can take her to the vet and ask for a gestational x-ray and they will see if she is pregnant, how many puppies there are, and if they're small enough to whelp naturally (probably not an issue with a Collie).
Her stomach would be swollen, you might be able to feel wiggling puppies, and her boobs will start to fill up. The only way to know for sure is with an ultrasound or x-ray though.

Why don't you take the dog to the VET!!!!! Clearly, you know nothing about breeding and the dogs will pay the price!!!!
