The fecal test and heartworm test pretty much detect any worms. Tapeworms are often missed in fecal exams due to the fact that tapeworms do not release eggs the same way other worms do. If you are concerned about tapeworms, the vet can explain what to look for, but all other worms are easily detected in the fecal exam.
If the dog has worms, they are easily and cheaply treated.

The fecal and the heart worm tests pretty much covers it. But if you are worried about tapeworms, ask the vet. The worms can be treated with pills that you give to your dog once a month.

my dog just had worms, and the tests didnt see it. i had to bring in a stool sample to show the vet. its easy to get rid of, but without totally isolating your dog, no 100% way to prevent.

That covers it. If the pup has worm, which most all do...the vet gives you a wormer and all is well.
