I have dated someone for several years. We haven't had sex in 3 years, don't say "I love you" any more and now I have moved to another state for a job. We did not celebrate our anniversary the past 2 years and he did not come to my graduation. We do still talk on the phone, sleep in the same bed when I am there, and have never had the "official" break up talk. Ocassionally he still refers to me as his girlfriend. He is not dating anyone else. Are we broken up or not? If we are, why isn't he dating?

You are broken up it happened about 3 years ago if you dont live in the same state how are you so sure he doesnt have a girlfriend or atleast a booty call. I dont know men who go 3 years without having sex with anyone sometimes there is no official break up talk needed you have been having break up actions for quite a while move on...... you desearve to find happiness look for it with someone else who will give you the courtesy of a break up talk you are worth atleast that much.

Sorry to say it babe, but you guys are so over. The reason you guys haven't had "the talk" is because both of you aren't ready to let go of what you had. That tends to happen in really long relationships. You should be the one to call it quits, it will make healing faster. The reason he isn't dating anyone else is probably because he doesn't want to date after coming out of a really long relationship.

I think you are from the look of things. What satisfaction are you getting out of a relationship like that? No I love you... no sex... just be an adult, sit down and talk. Let him know that you're confused about the relationship. Who knows, you might actually renew your relationship! Good luck!

I wonder if we know the same guy. Turns out he was dating and didn't consider it my business. His girlfriend had to set me straight on matters. I'd say to move on, find someone else, and stop sleeping in his bed.

that doesn't sound like a relationship.

i think you should make the break up official so the two of you can move on and start seeing other people without the guilt. you need to move on with your life.

maybe he's confused about you. think about it, have you done something that might make your boyfriend think twice about the relationship? have a talk with him, tell him that if you'r estill together, you cant be like this forever. you need to move on too, you need intimacy and warmth from the one that you love and he's not giving it to you. i'm sure things will work out if you make yourself brave enough to handle it. obviously he wont want to talk about it, having wait three years already. go on, its either a make or break thingy.

i think he's also unsure of the situation. make it a point to talk to him. maybe the attraction has kinda died down between the two of you. clarify the situation between the two of you and decide what will be best for the both ofyou, breakup or a long distance relationship.

Yeah, the relationship pretty much has dwindled down into friendship and it's pretty obvious.... Maybe he is dating someone but just isn't letting you know.

Maybe he still trying to see if the spark is there and doesn't want to move on until he finds out. Help him find out, talk to him.

The only way to tell if you are offically broken up is just to ask.I went through that and I finally had to ask him if we broke up but it is just better to ask than having to go around wondering if y'all are broke up or not!
